  1. Survey the views of your 16-19s

    • By David Skinner
    • Wednesday 30 May 2007

‘More spiritual than religious, less atheistic than you may have thought.’

That’s the conclusion we came to in the light of research we undertook in 2005.

Reported this week: This past weekend 13-year-old Morgan Pozgar was crowned the LG National Texting Champion.
Thirteen-year-old Morgan Pozgar, of Claysburg, Pennsylvania, was crowned LG National Texting champion on Saturday after she typed “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from “Mary Poppins” in 15 seconds.
Morgan defeated nearly 200 other competitors at the Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan to become East Coast champion […]

    Festive
    FE and Sixth Form Initiative
Whatever your view on Christian Groups/Christian Unions we hope that this new initiative will be of value and help everyone connected to FE and Sixth Formis. Though still at a preparation stage, launch is not due until September, it would be good if as many people as possible knew about Festive

The GSF2007 national conference in London will take place on Monday 2nd July 2007 and will be called ‘Dying for a Drink?’ Damaris are working in association with Stop Climate Chaos, which will provide the overall context for the content, but we it be focussing particularly on the issue of water - since this makes […]

  5. Stations of the Cross update

    • By Chris Curtis
    • Monday 2 April 2007

Wow. A fantastic week with lots of feedback from staff and students. The eight stations were in seven schools for the final five days of term. None were vandalised or taken down by the way: interesting given the tough environment in some of those schools. Young people were stopping to read them and were pretty […]

  6. Stations of the Cross

    • By Chris Curtis
    • Wednesday 21 March 2007

In Luton we’re trying out a ‘stations of the cross’ project this term in schools and I wonder if it might work well in 16-19 contexts too.
The idea came from a project my church was involved with last year. We created eight pieces of art with themes loosely following the Easter story: choices, betrayal, accused, […]

  7. Breathe brochure available

    • By Chris Curtis
    • Sunday 7 January 2007

It’s 2007 and our interactive resource ‘Breathe’ is now available for use. Everywhere it goes it’s been incredibly received by both students and staff. It’s not uncommon for there to be a trail of staff popping in to give it a try, having heard about it, and we’ve already had to requests to use it […]

  8. New resource for 16-19 conferences published

    • By Chris Curtis
    • Saturday 16 December 2006

After a huge amount of work, David Skinner and Lat Blaylock have published a new resource “Spiritual Engagement’ for anyone wanting to stage a successful sixth form RE day, and it’s going to be a fantastic addition to a hugely under-resourced area. The folder includes not only a theological and thoughtful relfection about why these […]

  9. Latest 14-19 education research

    • By Chris Curtis
    • Wednesday 8 November 2006

The National Foundation for Education Research has just published a series of reports on 14-19 education that may be on interest to those working in the field as chaplains. The five reports cover:
The voice of young people: an engine for improvement? Scoping the evidence - (2 November 2006)
The aim of this research is to review […]

  10. In Conversation with Pete Ward

    • By David Skinner
    • Thursday 19 October 2006

Pete began by questioning whether we have an adequate theology of Revelation and Epiphany. He suggested that evangelical theologies of sinful separation from God and meeting God first in penitence and conversion aren’t flexible enough to account for the reality of human experience or for the grace of God. God slips through moments of epiphany for many people, moments when he draws close.

For chaplains, teaching staff, youth workers and all those wanting to make a Christian contribution in 6th forms and FE colleges.

schoolswork.co.uk

If you’ve stopped by lately, you’ll have noticed this site has been lacking regular updates. We’re hoping to change all that in 2010. The dare2engage site is being transferred over to schoolswork.co.uk, a new national project to support Christian work in education. It’ll still have it’s own section, but it’ll be much expanded and more easily updated. We hope it’ll be a big improvement!
